Lewisham Fund for Black History Month Films

In celebration of this year’s Black History Month (October 2007), up to £1,200 will be awarded to Lewisham film-makers.

Lewisham Film Initiative will be working with new local partners Spectrecom Studios and The Albany, as well as media partner ITV Local London, in commissioning up to two short films.

The funding provided will be used to produce either a documentary or fiction project of no more than 15 minutes. Projects must be shot on digital video.

The selection of awards will be made on the basis of written proposals and consideration of applicants’ previous film work. Because of the tight deadlines, film-makers must be able to demonstrate a good track record of producing high quality material in a short period of time.

As last year, the films should focus on Black History Month: they are ideally looking for strong, untold contemporary or historical stories.

Deadline for applications is 23 July 2007 and projects must be fully completed by 1 October 2007
