The East End turns to all things cinematic for this 8 day festival

Eight extraordinary days of films and fun, overflowing with a host of international features, shorts, workshops, special events and parties: featuring fashion, music, visual arts, performance, comedy and heritage.


East End Film Festival aims to showcase a high quality range of new and contemporary films that explore the potential of cinema to cross cultural, political and artistic boundaries and that visualise the experience of living and working in the East End of London.

Rhizome Commissions 2007

In 2007, Rhizome will award eleven commissions with fees ranging from $1000-$3000. Rhizome will accept proposals in two categories: 1) New works of Internet-based art and 2) Community Project. (See below for more details.)

The commissions are determined by jury and by Rhizome's membership. The split between these two categories is 8:3, respectively.

Proposal submission takes place online. The deadline is midnight on Monday, April 2, 2007.

The Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts. The scheme aims to:


  • stimulate interest, excitement and debate about biomedical science through the arts

  • examine the social, cultural, and ethical impact of biomedical science

    The City Speaks Production Manager


    A production manager is being sought for the period 1 April to 15 December to
    manage the production of six new artist commissions. The City Speaks is a collaborative
    project developed by Film London Artists' Moving Image Network and BBC Radio Drama.
    The project centres around bringing artist film-makers and writers together to
    work as a creative team.


    The deadline for applications is 10am on Monday 26 March. Interviews are scheduled
    for Wednesday 28 March.

    Filming Co-ordinator

    Working as part of a team delivering filming for London they will play a key
    role in promoting the London Filming Partnership and Filming in London Code of
    Practice and encouraging boroughs to remain active partners to the Partnership
    and observing its recommendations.


    Essential experience includes:


    • Extensive experience of managing filming on behalf of a local authority, public
      agency or major London location.

    • In-depth knowledge of council procedure and regulations and experience of dealings
      with council departments and the communities that they serve.

    • Knowledge and understanding of how film crews work and their requirements.

    • Understanding and knowledge of location / filming contracts and charging structures
      for film shoots.

    The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, as we know it now, was established in 1986 and is the third largest film festival in the UK. The LLGFF on Tour runs from May to September visiting around 40 towns and cities across the UK and Ireland.

    Films wanted for Beautiful South (May 2007)

    The quarterly showcase for South London's film-making talent run in collaboration by The Hayward and BFI Southbank returns on May 8th, for an evening of screenings, networking and discussion. There will again be two strands: the first at 5:30 is a showcase for the various excellent training schemes in the borough; and the second at 7:30 features works selected following an open submission.

    Inspired by various BFI programmes this month, May’s theme for the open strand is ‘Little Britain’ exploring notions of home and identity, both national and local.

    Submissions must be received with a self addressed stamped envelope and a completed application form by April 23rd, addressed to
